Shanghai Exhibition Centre

Established with the approval of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Shanghai Exhibition Center (hereinafter called SEC) is an economic entity specializing in offering large-scale conference and exhibition services. With its buildings completed in March 1955, SEC is the first ever site for conference and exhibition after the founding of the People's Republic of China. SEC is affiliated to Shanghai Exhibition Centre (Group) Co., Ltd. Other subsidiaries include: Shanghai Expo Centre and Shanghai Centre.
SEC is unique among Shanghai buildings. Its Russian-style architecture is elegant, with gorgeous decoration. In 1989, it was named as "1949-1989 Top 10 Shanghai Architecture", in 1999 it was named as "Shanghai Top 10 Gold Classic Architecture in the 50th Anniversary of founding of the PPC ", and in 2005 it was rated as the fourth batch of outstanding historical buildings in Shanghai. It covers an area of 93,000 m² and a building area of 80,000 m². SEC is located in the center of Jing'an District, with West Nanjing Road in the north, and Middle Yan'an Road in the south, which has the rare geographical advantage in Shanghai.
According to their functionality, SEC is divided into two parts, the north part and the south part. With Dome Hall, Central Hall, East Hall 1, and West Hall 1, the southern part forms an exhibition area, Friendship Hall together with East Hall 2 in the north is designated as the conference area. SEC has 42 multi-functional exhibition halls, covering an area of 22,000 m².
SEC is an ideal venue for conference, exhibition, and large-scale event in Shanghai.

Awarding ‘Shanghai Model Unit’ for ten consecutive years

Over the past 60 years since its establishment, SEC has held many major political and foreign affairs events, and hosted the Party's leaders and dozens of foreign heads of state and government. It is also responsible for providing guarantee services of major political tasks (Municipal Party Committee Plenary Meeting, Representative Conference of the CCP, NPC, PCC, National Day Reception, Spring Festival Reunion, China Brand Exhibition, CIIE Welcome Dinner and daily important meetings for municipal Party committee, municipal government, municipal people’s Congress and municipal CPPCC. Each year, hundreds of domestic and foreign exhibitions have been held here. SEC is an important center for political, economic, science & technology and cultural activities.. It has made important contributions to Shanghai reform and opening up, and won Shanghai Model Unit for ten consecutive years.
